Membership

Membership of ASTA is available to Scientists, Technologists, Nurses, Physicians, Researchers and company representatives working in the fields of sleep medicine and sleep research. ASTA accepts new members on nomination by two current financial members of the association. Membership application forms are available in the ASTA Newsletter, or from ASTA Executive (see contacts) or it can be downloaded from this site (see below). Membership is valid for a financial year.

Completing the Membership Application Form

The Membership Application form is in RTF format and can be completed in Microsoft Word by typing in the highlighted fields. Before sending in the form ensure that it is signed and dated with payment details completed on the second page.

Member's Database - only tick this box if you do not wish to have your contact details placed within the database. This database will be placed in a password protected section within the Member's Area and will be only be available to executive members and state representatives.

How to make membership payments

Preferred payment options for Australian and New Zealand members are credit card transactions and EFT. Please contact the Treasurer treasurer@sleeptechnologists.org for further information on EFT and Festival City Conventions secretary@sleeptechnologists.org for credit card transactions.

Please make cheques payable to ASTA. Cheques from New Zealand are required to be in Australian dollars and equivalent to $NZD70.

Note: For EFT payments please add your name in the details section so we know that it was you who has transferred the money on our bank statement.

Note: New Zealand and other International EFT transcations incur a fee of $20.

Types of Membership

Ordinary Membership

Individuals working in the field of sleep medicine or sleep research are eligible for ordinary membership. Application for membership must be submitted in writing on the membership form to the Committee for consideration. Once approved by the Committee and upon payment of the annual subscription fee an individual shall then be admitted as an Ordinary member.

Honorary Members

Honorary membership is reserved for individuals who have demonstrated excellence in the fields of sleep medicine or sleep research or who have made a significant contribution to the Association. An individual shall become an Honorary member after recommendation by the Committee and approval by the membership at the Annual General Meeting. If you would like to nominate someone for Honorary membership, please contact the current Executive to obtain a nomination form.

Sustaining Members

Sustaining members shall be those companies or businesses or their representatives who have shown interest in the Association, who wish to support the aims and objectives of the Association. Sustaining members must be approved by the Committee and shall become a member upon the payment of a membership fee. Sustaining members shall not be entitled to vote.
